Gabriela Machado
Visual Artist · Photography & Storytelling
I am a Brazilian visual artist, and my work in photography is guided by a desire to explore the invisible and the mysteries of occult philosophy. Since an early age, I have found in photography a way to give voice to the intangible, translating fragments of the subconscious and nuances of the unknown into images.
Working primarily in black and white, I use light and shadow to reveal the essence of forms. While my work is almost always colourless, I remain open to new possibilities, allowing each story to guide my process along with my intuition.
I explore themes such as magic, eroticism and philosophical reflection, transforming everyday moments into visual poetry. I use both analog and digital techniques, from instant photography to medium format film, embracing imperfection, ritual and depth as essential parts of my creative rhythm.
Storytelling, my second passion, is deeply woven into my artistic practice. Through the union of image and text, I create immersive narratives that evoke emotion, mystery and introspection.
Photography, to me, is not merely capturing the moment. It is creation, a portal to the occult and an invitation to contemplate existence. With each image I seek to unveil what lies beyond the obvious, giving shape to the depth of a moment and the mystery of what cannot be seen.
